Tangled Costume

As October gets closer, I start thinking about costumes. Last year, I tried to find a cute Minnie Mouse costume. But could not find anything that I liked and that I thought would hold up to a 3 year old. I then decided to try making a costume (I am not big on sewing clothes but this is a costume, I can try that). I thought the Minnie Mouse came out pretty good.
Because we live in Utah and it is cold in October, we added a black shirt and pants.

The Minnie Mouse costume is still holding up strong and is now a dress up costume. But its a new year and she needs a new costume. This year she wanted to be Tangled (also known as Rapunzel). I decided to just make the costume this year and do it early. To make the costume, I did what I did last year. I used a t-shirt that is a little big for my daughter and traced it out then added extra for the seam. And after sewing and lots of unpicking, we had a Tangled costume.
The dress is a little long but she will grow into it in the next year of dress up.

I think the costume turned out pretty good, for my second time of making my own pattern...

UPDATE: Ashley from Make It and Love It has a great tutorial on how to make a Tangled Costume, found here.
