Removing Old Screen Door

Our house has screen/storm doors but the back screen door was broken, see the glass missing. We were trying to decide what we wanted to do with it replace it or just remove it. We decided to remove it because it was cheaper then replacing it and we can always replace it one day. So after a couple nails, yes nails, and screws the door came off.
Then we were left with this. But with removing the door we found that we had wood that needed to be painted to make it water proof. That was just fine with me because I wanted to paint it before.
First, we needed to fill in the holes from the nails and screws.

I used the leftover wood filler that I used on the stairs.
Then we had this...
After letting it dry for a month, I have been a little lazy at finishing this one and its about 90 degrees outside by 10 am here in Utah. It has been a really hot June/July, not normal for us, making me not want to go outside.
Finally, today at 8 am, I was outside sanding the filler.
I also cleaned everything then caulked around all the gaps.
But I decided that I am going to fill the little hole that goes all the way around the door with wood filler, next time I go to the hardware store it is on my list. Then maybe in another month, I will finally have the door painted.
